2012 Hyundai Veloster

Restraint is a noble thing, and Hyundai sets an excellent example with the 2012 Veloster Turbo. The 201-hp version of this half coupe/half sedan/half hatchback is everything it could be without becoming things it shouldn’t be, including expensive. The Hyundai Veloster is a fun car that's smooth and efficient with unique looks and great handling. Enthusiasts will especially welcome the Veloster Turbo's extra oomph. *Phantom Black* 1.6-liter intercooled scroll turbo and a 9.5:1 compression ratio, front-wheel drive. But there is much more to the Veloster Turbo than just a whirling Borg-Warner turbine integrated into the exhaust header. Hyundai claims 201 hp on the roof at 6000 rpm's and 195 lb-ft of torque in the basement, all on regular fuel. The EPA numbers with the manual will be 26 mpg city and 38 highway. The headlights are upgraded to a projector-beam type, and LEDs are used in the headlight cluster and taillights. The premium model arrives with a unique front and rear fascia, complete with a ground effects package and fog lights. Safety equipment on all models includes 6 airbags, frontal, front side impact, curtains. As a three door coupe, the Veloster totally pulls off the two door roofline. On the passenger side, the third door is hidden save the seam. Rakish upsweep meets a racy roofline, invisible door handle in the window corner. Thankfully, the window trim is black, Veloster seats four. The backseat is easy to get into, rear legroom measures 31.7, which is scant for those who regularly carry backseat passengers, but good for the compact segment. Standard features include the comfort and convenience features found in the standard Veloster. One of our favorite things about the Veloster is its composed feeling on the road. It uses an unusual rear suspension, a V-beam torsion axle with an integrated stabilizer bar, which makes it totally obedient, and there are other good things to make the driving enjoyable.
